Our Pastors

Dr. Edsel Duréus
Our Senior Pastor

Pastor DureusThe word of God gives us the message to proclaim and the precepts to teach the nations. Indeed this is a time-sensitive privilege, that of making an eternal investment among the nations. Dr. Edsel Duréus is TTBF’s Senior Pastor and Lead Shepherd. Pastor Duréus is wholeheartedly committed to invest in souls.

Since he was called to do the work of an evangelist, he has dedicated his life holistically to the cause of Christ. Pastor Duréus realized the fact that, in eternity future, there will be no evangelism, missions or outreach, and therefore purposed to redeem the time by proclaiming the Good News of God’s gracious love in his own generation.

Pastor Edsel Duréus is also the Founder and President of Taking the Word to the World Ministries, Inc. He holds a Doctor of Ministry and Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also earned a Master of Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute. He has received leadership awards from The Urban Alternative, Dallas Theological Seminary and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, where he did his academic internship for Moody Bible Institute-Graduate School.

Pastor Edsel Duréus was licensed to the Gospel Ministry during his pastoral internship at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship – Discipleship Department, in March of 1997 under Dr. Martin E. Hawkins. He was later ordained to the Ministry in July of 1997 by Dr. Anthony T. Evans. He also served faithfully for almost six years as the Minister of Outreach and Prayer at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, in Arlington, Texas, where Reverend William Dwight McKissic is the Pastor.

Pastor Duréus also completed a teaching-academic internship at Dallas Theological Seminary under Dr. Ronald B. Allen, has served as a Field Instructor there, and is currently on the faculty of the Oak Cliff Bible Institute. Pastor is grateful for his schooling and training. Above all, he is grateful to His faithful and timeless instructor:

“The Grace of God.” Titus 2:11-13
He is married to Rev. Dr. Beverly Caro Duréus . They have one son, Edsel, II.

Rev. Dr. Beverly Caro Duréus
Pastor of Women’s and Children’s Ministries

Rev DureusPastor’s wife, Dr. Beverly Caro Duréus, is an ordained minister of the Gospel and a licensed attorney.  She also obtained a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in evangelism and discipleship. She also earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in Evangelism from Perkins School of Theology.

She left her full-time law practice where she was a shareholder, to answer the Lord’s ministerial call on her life. This fulfilled one of her life-long passions.

Pastor Bev is currently teaching on the faculty full-time at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.  She also has a love for utilizing the law to assist and to bring reconciliation to the body of Christ.  To this end, she has served in the past as the Chairperson of the Ecclesiastical Section of White & Wiggins, LLP, a minority owned law firm in Dallas, Texas.

She is also Founder and President of Katallasso Ministries International™. It is an expository teaching and proclamation ministry that presents opportunities for her to share the Word of God in the United States and abroad.

A sought after conference presenter and author, she has a passion in the ministry for teaching the Word of God, especially to women and unmarried Believers. Her first published book, Holiday Island, co-authored with Gwendolyn V. Campbell, is the first volume of a six-part series for children. It is a whimsical story about the Holiday Makers, characters we have all come to enjoy on each holiday and what they do when their respective holidays are over. It provides children with the meaning of the role Christ in the holidays and presents the Gospel to them. She is also a contributing author to the 2020 publication entitled, “Lessons from Successful African American Lawyers” (Both of her books are available on Amazon).

Pastor Bev enjoys working on the mission field and alongside Pastor Duréus, to help him become the man of God that the Lord has purposed.  She serves at TTBF as the Pastor of Women’s and Children’s Ministries. She is a devoted wife and mother and states that Jesus is truly the main joy and the Lord of her life, and He is coming soon for His Bride!
